Shutterstock has a subscription model where the buyer pays a fee and is allowed to download a number of images per day. That means lots of sales because they want to use up all their daily downloads. They pay you 25c per download until you have $500 in total earnings, then you get 30c per download.
From the site: "Shutterstock is different than other stock models. Buyers subscribe on a monthly basis and can download up to 750 images over the course of 30 days. Your cut? Shutterstock will pay you 25 cents every time one of your images is downloaded. Once you reach $500 in earnings, your commission goes up to 30 cents per download. Our subscription model encourages buyers to download a greater volume of images than they would at most other agencies. "
Commision: $0.25 per sold image (on subscription, more sales). Once you reach lifetime sales of $500 you earn $0.30 per sold image. Enhanced License sells gives you $28. "On Demand" sells give you $0.81 (Medium/Small size) and $1.88 (Any size). After $500 in lifetime sales it changes to $1.07 and $2.48.
Referral Program: Yes, you get $0.03 for each photo your referrered photographer sells. You can also refer photo buyers.
Initial Review Process: Submit 10 photos, and have at least 7 out of 10 accepted. If you fail you have to wait 30 days before trying again.

iStockphoto have a pay per download model. Prices go from $1 to $40 depending on resolution. Commissions start at 20% and go up to 45% as you get more downloads.

One of the newest stock photography sites on the web. With their main offices located in Toronto, Canada, Thephotostorage is committed, like no one else, to fair business, which means the contributor, not the site, is the one taking home the biggest piece of the prize.
The image prices range from $1 for a small file (800x600px) to $10 for an extra large file (more than 8 mpx). Extended licenses can be bought at 100 credits or 150 credits depending on the intended use. Prints can be bought from 15 credits to 46, depending on the size.
Commision: 50% commission every time one of the contributor's files is sold. Members get paid full download price (100%) for each print it's sold.
Referral Program: Simple and clear, members get paid 10% of every sale or purchase made by the referred member for 1 year.
